Cougar Attack Leaves Family In Mourning

BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. -

A deadly cougar attack in Oregon leaves a family right here in our area in mourning.

36-year-old trainer Renee Radziwon originally from Bucks County was killed by a cougar on Saturday while she was working alone at the Wildcat Haven Sanctuary.

The family is devastated by the news. We talked with them today briefly. They couldn't say much except that they do believe there is more to the story.

They say their daughter has a husband and a 6 month old baby girl and she never would've put her life in jeopardy.

"I don't understand it for the life of me there is no reason for her to have died there," Cheryl Jones said.

Employees at a similar Exotic Animal Rescue in Oregon say it's hard to believe the sanctuary's allegations that an experienced trainer would break protocol and enter a cougar's cage alone without back up.

Radziwon's family back here in PA believe there is more to the story, though they can't talk about it. Radziwon's mom told me over the phone that her daughter, Renee was the light of their life, a giving person, passionate about the animals she worked with

Radziwon's family says she even canceled plans to attend veterinary school so that she could dedicate herself to the sanctuary and give the wildcats a better life.

Wildcat Haven released a statement saying: "We are devastated by this loss. Not only was this one of our most dedicated staff members, we thought of her as family."

The owners of the sanctuary told authorities that they had left Radziwon's prior to the attack so that they could check on a second property. The county sheriff's office says no crime was committed but OSHA and the Department of Agriculture are still investigating what happened.

Radziwon leaves behind a husband and 6 month old daughter.

    Camden County Police are looking for a missing 16-year-old from Lanning Square.Police say Zebedee Matthews was reported missing Sunday, April 20th from his home on the 600 block of Benson Street.Police describe him as a black male, 5'6 ½", 115 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
