Couple Hopes To Find Mementos

Posted: Updated:

A Center City couple that has been together since junior high got so excited when they discovered love letters the husband had written his wife back in 8th grade still existed.

The box of mementos had to be shipped from California to Philadelphia and now it's missing!

Shauna and Kyle Goodman have been together since they were 13 years old. This box had actually survived a house fire then it went missing and then suddenly her mom found it again.

So Shauna was all excited but the package never showed up.

"I was a pretty hopeless romantic eighth grader yeah I was so it would've been fun to go back and kind of relive eighth grade Kyle and Shauna and laugh about it," Kyle said,

Shauna and Kyle Goodman now both 29 years old were hoping to reminisce about how their love story all started.

"She stood up for me one day she was very nice and kind I thought oh this girls kind of cool," Kyle said.

"He had a bandanna that smelled like him and I kept it because I was a sappy eighth grader," Shauna said.

Shauna stored all these mementos in a box at her childhood home in California. After a fire there 13 years ago, she thought she'd lost it forever.

But just a couple months ago, her mom surprised her with the news. She'd found it and shipped it to her.

"I was really excited we were going to be getting them," Shauna said.

But the package never arrived. The tracking number from USPS shows it was delivered back in September.

Kyle got on the phone with USPS. He says he filed a claim but never heard back.

"I just kept thinking it's gonna show up," "We went awhile thinking there was glitch with our address. it was going to be sent back to my mom and then that never happened ," Shauna said.

The couple posted these fliers at their complex, just in case their package may have accidentally been misplaced somewhere.

"It's childhood memories, it's a piece of our history that we would love to have for our children for our children's children so they could talk about grandma and grandpa, great grandma and great grandpa someday," Shauna said.

FOX 29's Kelly Hessedal spoke to USPS today. A spokesperson told me they'll look into Kyle's claim, but the couple is well aware that might not even help.

The package could've been stolen, it could be anywhere. If you can have any information that might help them find that box, their contact information is trippgoodman44@gmail.com
