Community Remembers Teen Killed In Accident

Posted: Updated:

It was a heartbreaking scene in South Jersey where a crowd of kids barely in their teens wipe away tears. They gathered to remember a young life lost.

14-year-old Jermire Lowery was killed in a car accident in Vineland on Monday night.

A crowd of roughly 300 packed the baseball diamond at Normandie field to stand around the bases in honor of Lower.

Baseball Team Mom Tami Harold says its a great loss for the whole community.

Lowery, known as fancy feet on the field, helped his team win the state title last season. Now the team is dealing with an unimaginable loss.

"That was my brother I'd do anything to have him back," Richard Hatcher, Jemire's best friend said.

Coach Joey Rodriguez says he tells his team that Lowery is their guardian.

Wearing green, Lowery's favorite color, an entire community huddled together on this cold night to grieve in unity.

"He was such a great person I still expect him to walk next to us," Classmate Alyssa Cross said.

Jermire's baseball teammates and a couple hundred of his friends, family and classmates took to the baseball diamond tonight to honor the young athletes life.

A viewing will be held for Jermire Lowery on Monday, November 18th at Chestnut Assembly of God Church from 9am to 11am with a service to follow.
