Restaurant Owner Says Vet Was Not Asked To Leave

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, N.J. -

A local restaurant owner is defending himself.

He's accused of kicking out a veteran for bringing his service dog.

We brought you the story Wednesday. Disabled Army veteran Jeff Hall, 38, says he took his service dog to Rino's Pizzeria in Burlington.

Hall says the owner seemed unaware of laws concerning service dogs and asked him to leave, citing sanitary concerns.

On Thursday, we got a statement from restaurant owner Salvatore Massa's attorney.

Massa's lawyer says once Massa learned the dog was a service animal he invited Hall to stay but that Hall left anyway.

And this Monday, Rino's will offer a free pizza to any veteran who can present a proper ID.
