'Batkid' Fighting Crime To Save 'Gotham' In San Francisco

Posted: Updated:
SAN FRANCISCO -

Fog City was transformed into Gotham City to make one Batkid's dream come true.

Miles Scott, 5, was diagnosed with leukemia when he was just a one-year-old toddler. When the Make-A-Wish Foundation learned that he wanted to become the caped crusader, Batman, they got to work.

Miles, a.k.a. "Batkid," left Union Square in one of two Batmobiles on Friday morning. The drive through the city was part of a day of events organized by the foundation.

Arriving in the Lamborghini Batmobile, Batkid's first call of duty was rescuing a damsel in distress from cable car tracks.

Next up, the tiny hero captured the Riddler as he tried to rob a downtown bank.

Later, Batkid was honored with a key to the city from San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee.

The local U.S. Attorney's Office even put out a news release lauding Batkid's work in the capture of Edward "E." Nigma, aka, "The Riddler," and Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, aka, "The Penguin."

"We've been chasing Nigma and Cobblepot for years and just when I was about to give up hope that we would ever bring them to justice, wouldn't you know it – Batkid shows up and saves the day," said United States Attorney Melinda Haag. "I've been involved in some unbelievable cases and I've worked with some pretty remarkable law enforcement officers, but the bravery displayed by Batkid is off the charts. I'm absolutely certain that there is no villain this remarkable super-hero can't defeat."
