US 202 Reopens After Morning Accident

Posted: Updated:

Authorities say that all lanes on US 202 in Tredyffrin, Pa. have been opened after a big accident caused massive morning delays.

According to authorities, the accident started with a car that hit and broke through a concrete barrier around some construction. This happened at around 8:46 a.m. today. The accident then dominoed. Both sides of the highway were shutdown

Mike Peak didn't know he'd be stranded on route 202 near Cedar Hollow Road in Tredyffrin Township for the next four hours after 5 vehicles collided including a box truck which overturned.

"We came to a stop- sat here about 5 minutes and I thought well this isn't good," Peak said.

Three people were transported to a local hospital and are expected to be okay. Police say a fourth victim was flown to Reading Hospital where the patient was admitted to the intensive care unit but is listed in stable condition.

The accident had traffic backed up for miles. Slowly cars were able to turn around and make their exit, but for the truck drivers there was no escaping.

They sat and watched as police officers survey the scene, interview people involved and tow trucks arrived, loaded and hauled away the wreckage. People with patience, like Mike Peak, took the major morning delay in stride.

"Nothing' you can do, no sense in getting upset about it," Peak said.
