Two vehicles traveling Highway 8 in Barron County, Wisconsin struck deer on Tuesday morning, leaving one driver with minor injuries and the other in critical condition.
Officials said Barron County has tallied more than 100 deer accidents this November alone.
The Barron County Sheriff's Department received a report of a deer accident and semi in a ditch on Highway 8 just east of Turtle Lake at 4:05 a.m. Tuesday.
Upon arrival, police found a car driven by 18-year-old Brianna Kandler of Chippewa Falls, Wis. had struck a deer while traveling east on Highway 8. She was treated on-scene for minor injuries.
Police also discovered a Jennie-O Turkey Store semi in a roadside ditch that had been traveling west on Highway 8 had also struck a deer that went through the driver's front windshield, struck the driver and continued through the back window. The driver, 35-year-old Jacob Haas of Chetek, Wis., was flown to Regions Hospital in St. Paul and was listed in critical condition as of 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The Barron County Sheriff's Department and Wisconsin State Patrol are continuing to investigate.
