Police Investigating Purse Thefts Inside Movie Theaters

Posted: Updated:
MARLTON, N.J. -

A trio starring in surveillance pictures is wanted for stealing a woman's purse Tuesday afternoon. Evesham Township Police say it happened around 3:15pm while she was enjoying a movie at the AMC 8 on route 73 in Marlton, New Jersey

Police confirm the group's suspected of similar crimes in surrounding towns.

"It's sad that you always have to be cautious it's going to happen anywhere you go," said moviegoer Steffi Zapatier.

In this latest episode at the AMC 8, police say a man in glasses wearing a red hoodie bought a movie ticket. Once inside he opened the side door for his male and female accomplice.

Authorities say the trio walks in and out of the theatres searching for victims. Once their mark is spotted police say it takes just three to four minutes.

The suspects steal the victim's wallet or purse while they're watching a show then escape through the side door. The victim doesn't know until the movie is over.

Police say in Voorhees, NJ they're investigating multiple purse snatchings similar to the one that happened in Marlton.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
