Halfcourt Shot Fan May Lose Prize

Posted: Updated:

Last week, two Oklahoma City Thunder fans hit half court shots and each won $20,000.

One of those fans, Cameron Rodriguez, might lose his winnings.

He nailed the shot back on November 18th. He may lose the prize money because of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics rules.

It turns out that Rodriguez is a basketball player at southwestern college in Kansas and is not allowed to profit off his athletic ability. Rodriguez is asking for an exception that would allow him to use the money as a scholarship to help pay for tuition.

If he can't keep the cash, Mid-First Bank offered to donate it to a charity in Rodriguez's name.
