White House Christmas Tree Arrives From Pa.

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

The Obamas have their main Christmas tree. Trumpets blared at the White House for the arrival of the 18.5-foot Douglas Fir from eastern Pennsylvania.

First Lady Michelle Obama, with daughters Sasha and Malia, kept things informal, bringing out the family dogs, Bo and Sunny, for the initial inspection. The girls called the tree "great."

It comes from the Crystal Spring Tree Farm in Lehighton, Pa., which is owned by Chris Boytek.

The Obamas actually tried to find a tree at another farm, the Wykoff Tree Farm in Warren County, N.J. The Wykoff family had won the National Christmas Tree Association's annual contest.

But, they didn't have anything big enough to fill the White House "Blue Room," where the main tree will stand. So, the Wykoffs will supply trees for other rooms.

The Wykoff and Boytek families are all at the White House on Friday.
