Terrified Business Owners Speak Out On Four Gunpoint Robberies

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

"He point the gun right here and then he go around and I'm right here," that's how pizza shop owner Quang Lac described the sight of a gun two feet from his face while he was being robbed Monday night by a masked gunman inside South View Pizza at Fourth and Durfor in South Philadelphia.

"I just run to the back, save myself and let them take what they want. I have no choice," Lac told Fox 29 in an exclusive interview.

Lac says it was an hour before closing when the gunman came in, threatened him, then rifled through two cash registers and stole over $500. The 39 year old Vietnamese national has owned this popular neighborhood pizza shop for seven years. He says he's never been more frightened in his life.

"Last night I can't sleep all night. I can' t sleep all night," Lac added.

"We have a very violent predator on the loose," said Captain Larry Nodiff, commander of South Detectives.

The robbery here is the fourth gunpoint holdup at businesses in this section of South Philly in the last 12 days. In each case the gunman enters wearing a mask and waving a gun. He robbed this corner grocery last saturday and this sushi restaurant twice in 10 days. Owner Ryan Zheng stared down the barrel of a gun both times. The last time the gunman was wearing a "scream" mask.

"First time they come in and say shut up or I will shoot you," he said. "I tell myself I gotta run. You can't put yourself under the gun."

"This is a very dangerous situation and thank goodness so far no one has been injured," Nodiff added.

Police have issued a patrol bulletin to all officers in the area to be on the look out for the gunman. Zheng feels like he's a target. Lac is worried the gunman may come back and someone may could shot.

"It is the second time it happen to me so," Lac explained. "Hopefully they can find the guy."

"God bless nobody got hurt, nobody injured. This is a good thing," Zheng said.

The business ownerssay there were customers inside during the robbereis, including children. Police are working on surveillance video from the robberies. They believe the same gunman is involved in these cases and possibly more.

Anyone with information should call South Detectives.

Police did take fingerprints from the crimes scenes.
