Man Falls Asleep On UA Flight And Ends Up Locked In Plane

Posted: Updated:
LOS ANGELES, Calif. -

There's nothing unusual about falling asleep on your flight, but one man woke up to find that he was locked inside the plane.

Tom Wagoner fell asleep on a United Airlines flight from Louisiana to Los Angeles.

When he woke up, he was all alone, with no way out!

"I woke up and the lights were out. I was like, ‘what's going on?' I thought maybe it was a layover."

However, Tom soon realized that it was not a layover, because all the other passengers were gone and there was no luggage in any of the compartments.

Tom called his girlfriend for help.

"I called my girlfriend, and she thought I was crazy. I said, 'Debbie I'm locked on the plane.' She said, 'Tommy, stop.' I said, 'I'm telling you the truth; you better call somebody and get me off this plane.' "

The airline claims they did do a thorough walk-through. They say they do not know how they missed him.

"What if I had a medical condition or something, you know? What if I had a heart attack and I was dead? You just shut the plane and leave somebody on there? It's the way I look at it," Wagoner said.

United Airlines gave the man a 250 dollar voucher, a bag of toiletries and an apology.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
