PHILADELPHIA -

Phillies Starting Pitcher Roy Halladay has announced that he will retire as a Blue Jay.

Halladay has confirmed that he will have a press conference to announce a one-day contract with the Blue Jays.

Holiday played for the Phillies from 2010 to 2013. He started his 16 year MLB career at the Toronto Blue Jays, playing there from 1998 to 2009.

Halladay's career stats are as followed: 3.38 ERA; 203-105 W-L; 2117 SO; 1.18 WHIP. For the 2013 Phillies season, Halladay is 6.82 ERA; 4-5 W-L; 51 SO; 1.47 WHIP.

Former teammates have reacted to Halladay's retirement announcement.

"He was one of the best competitors who ever played this game and taught everyone around him to prepare the right way in order to be the best," said Cole Hamels.

"In my eyes, the game just lost the best pitcher of the last 10 years," said Kyle Kendrick.

"I'm honored to have had the opportunity to watch him pitch for four years," said Chase Utley.

Halladay has already taken out an ad that will appear in Tuesday's Daily News, thanking the city for its support during his time in Phillies pinstripes. You can see that ad in the images above.
