OK State Capitol Could Have Satanic Monument

Posted: Updated:

A satanic monument next to the Ten Commandments could happen at the Oklahoma State Capitol.

A satanic temple notified the capitol preservation commission that it wants a monument right next to the Ten Commandments display.

A satanic temple member told the Associated Press that the Oklahoma government brought this on themselves by erecting a religious statement.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has filed a lawsuit against the Capitol Preservation Commission saying the Ten Commandments monument is a direct violation of article two section five of the state constitution.

"If that monument is allowed to stay then we don't see how the state cannot allow other religions, whether it is Satanism, Catholicism, Hinduism. We don't think the state can pick and choose," said Brady Henderson.

If approved by Oklahoma officials, it would cost around $20,000 for the satanic monument.
