West Deptford Soldier Treated To Surprise Homecoming

Posted: Updated:
WEST DEPTFORD, N.J. -

It was a happy homecoming for an American hero in Gloucester County, New Jersey.

Army Specialist Wendy Gittinger arrived back in West Deptford Sunday afternoon.

Wendy came back to the U.S. on Friday and was planning to go to church with her husband Jason Gittinger.

Jason is involved with a local fire company, and her dad is involved with a biking group. The two organized a huge parade with fire trucks and motorcycles in front of her house.

So the soldier hopped on one of the trucks and was brought to a party at church motorcade style.

Wendy has been in the army for four years, but she's being discharged in January.

She just spent the past year in Afghanistan, prior to that she was in Korea.

Friends and family say they're glad she's finally home for good.
