Santa Reunites Soldier With Daughter

Posted: Updated:

Many of our military members won't be home for the holidays this year but one Colorado family who learned their soldier was coming home early enlisted Santa's help.

Sitting atop Santa's lap with her older brother standing by for support - 7-year-old Tessa said this year she wanted to see her daddy for Christmas.

Daddy is Lieutenant Colonel Dan Hibner who was deployed to Afghanistan and set to return in March 2014, but what Tessa didn't know was her dad was already there and would hear her sweet little wish.

Hibner and his wife Teresa secretly plotted with Santa after learning he would be able to be home for the holidays.

"When he got the final orders... my first thought was I want to surprise the kids because in 6 deployments we haven't been able to do that" Teresa said.

So into Santa's workshop the army lieutenant colonel went to hide and wait for this moment when he could see his little girls' face.

"Her shock shocked me. It was incredible she was so startled but it was awesome. So good to see her," Lt. Hibner said.

This was Hibner's 6th deployment. Missing him isn't new for this family.

"We were looking at our 3rd Christmas without him and this is just a huge blessing for our family," Teresa said.

But of those deployments, no return could compare to this Christmas miracle.
