SOUTH PHILADELPHIA -

Police are looking for three thieves in a home invasion robbery of an elderly couple. They roughed up the couple and got away with thousands.

Leo McKelvey says thieves got away with Christmas money he took the time to strategically place into envelopes for each of his grand kids and family members. He says it all happened so fast after they burst into his home.

"He knocked on the door. As soon as I opened it all three of them rushes right in," Leo said.

It happened McKelvey says, around 5pm at his home at 2100 Howard St.

He tells us his 86-year old fiancé Evelyn Lampert was struck in the head and held down on the couch while one of the suspects looked for the cash.

"I kept hollering over don't hurt her so that's why I was trying to wrestle with him and get up," McKelvey said.

He says the three thieves fled with nearly $6,000 and various gold coins.

"I was mad because I couldn't beat the guy up. At 86 you know that's tough," McKelvey said.

Leo and his fiancé do not have any injuries from this accident.

Police tell us no arrests have been made, but they are reviewing surveillance video.
