Winning Stores Hope Luck Strikes Twice With Mega Millions

"Two Augusts ago we sold a one million Powerball ticket," said Steve Blaisse, owner of D&I Beverage on Baltimore Pike in Glen Mills. He said not a day goes by that customers don't recall his store sold the big win lottery ticket.

"They say remember when you sold that ticket, or do it again and you know lightning strikes twice."

Crowds came in groups all day, he said, buying tickets for Tuesday night's $636 million Mega Millions drawing.  Steve said buzz surrounding the previous win at his store, although for a significantly smaller amount, has increased business.

"Once you're designated as a lucky store then everyone likes to come to your store," he said.

Including regular customer Doreen Makos who bought tickets for her job's office pool.

"It sure would be nice but luck is luck," said Makos.

In Philadelphia, a tiny news stand on Oregon Avenue in South Philly is still reaping the benefits of selling a winning ticket before too.

"A lot of people come. More than before," said Rose Kao, owner of Long News Stand. Kao said the two million dollar Powerball ticket they sold last summer is still the source of a lot of excitement.

"I'm happy when the jackpot goes high like. We sell a lot and I hope I sell another winner," she said.

Customer Rudy Muse truly believes it's a lucky location.

"Because this is where someone bought a winning ticket before so you want to frequent this store," said Muse.
