Gilligan's Island WIll Get Movie

Posted: Updated:

Gilligan's Island, the popular 60s comedy TV series about seven castaways who get stranded on a tropical island, will get a feature film, Deadline Hollywood reports.

Warner Brothers will be making the movie, and Josh Gad will star. Gad, Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez will write the film together.

So far, there has not been any information on which character Gad will play.

Preston and Steve from WMMR talked to Good Day about this plan. They are not excited about the movie. Preston and Steve said that if you got someone like Ben Stiller or Ray Liotta to star, then they may be more excited about it.

Sheinelle mentioned that many people in the current generation never got a chance to watch Gilligan's Island on TV, so maybe the box office will capture people who don't have loyalty to the old show.

Online, the comments have been pretty negative. On Deadline Hollywood's story, read Susan Gold writes, "Please don't do this. I love Josh Gad and I love Gilligan's island but there is no way this can be good."

Similarly, Joe Hill wrote, "Can anyone please have sane, common sense today…"
