Billboard In India Puts Morgan Freeman In Place Of Nelson Mandela

Posted: Updated:

An Indian owner of a billboard dedicated to Nelson Mandela accidentally uses a photo of actor Morgan Freeman instead.

Freeman's face was on the billboard with images of Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa and Gandhi.

The text said, in part:

Among today's politicians who cannot think beyond the next election cycle, Nelson Mandela was a leader who thought of the well-being of future generations. He went to join Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King

The merchant says he will replace the billboard with the correct picture of Mandela.

India has declared five days of mourning for Mandela, who died on December 5th. This memorial in question was in the city of Coimbatore, which is in South India.

Freeman played Mandela in the 2009 film Invictus.
