Forget about leaving your home to go to church this holiday. Now you can take in a church ceremony in your Christmas jammies. This year, more churches, such as Middle Church in New York City, the church I attend, are steaming their ceremonies online.
Christina Fleming helps organize the church's social media.
"I think worshiping online allows people to connect to one another," she says. "It allows you to interact through Facebook and Twitter."
The church also encourages people to take photos during worship and post them on social media.
Experts say more than 500 churches will stream their services this year compared to only a few about 6 years ago.
But those aren't the only ways that social media is being used this holiday season. People who have nowhere to go on Christmas are turning to Reddit to meet up with other "orphans" for an orphan Christmas party.
