Dog Saves Owner From Fire

Posted: Updated:

"I was so far into sleep that I was going to die."

When a fire started in Debbie White's home a few weeks ago, her dog Forest sprang into action.

White had inhaled the smoke and was asleep when the fire started, so Forest jumped on her. However, that didn't stir Debbie. Forest pressed on. He bit her a few times, first in the foot, then in the hand, and finally on the arm. Sensing some movement, Forest doubled his efforts even more and managed to get Debbie awake. He then tried everything to get Debbie to realize the dire situation and get her out.

"He wouldn't leave the house without me," White recalled.

Eventually she got up and out of the house in time.

"He dragged me out the door and into the front yard."

White also lives with her daughter who wasn't at home at the time of the fire. Thank goodness the dog was there.

"I would do anything for this dog. This dog saved my life," White said.
