Soldier Returns Home To Daughter After 14 Month Deployment

Posted: Updated:

We never get tired of seeing these types of homecomings. A staff sergeant, deployed 14 months to South Korea, gave his fifth grader the surprise of her life at Her Clifton Park Elementary School in New York.

Staff Sgt. Olmstead first greeted his wife and his eldest daughters. They fell into each other's arms in long and warm embrace.

"I saw the skyline, and I started tearing up, and then I saw these two…" said Olmstead.

However, Olmstead had one more mission to complete. He had another daughter, his baby girl, Chloe. Chloe thinks that her father is coming home in a week and has no idea that he is here already.

With her class studying in the library, Chloe never suspected that her father, whom she hasn't seen since Thanksgiving of 2012, was going to show up and greet her.

Watch the tearful reunion in the video above.

"I was like, who's this?" said Chloe Olmstead. "And the second time I realized it was my dad. I'm really happy because I haven't seen him in a long time, so…"

Gone from home for over a year, but not a day away from their hearts.
