1,600 Jobless After AC's Atlantic Club Casino Closed At Midnight

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -

You won't hear the shouts of big winners at one Atlantic City casino anymore.

All bets are off at the Atlantic Club Casino, which shut its doors at the stroke of midnight.

This is the latest blow to Atlantic City, which is struggling to rebuild.

According to the casino's website, any customer holding onto chips or tokens after midnight will have to file a "proof of claim" with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of New Jersey.

FOX 29 viewer Eileen McNeill sent us these pictures of the last few hours of gaming.

Nobody was playing some of the slot machines in the photos. Closing signs were posted in the gift shops, and lobbies were already pretty empty as guests were all checked out.

The casino closing leaves 1,600 people now without a job.

The loss of Atlantic Club Casino brings the number of A.C. gaming halls down to 11.
