CLIFTON HEIGHTS, Pa. -

A Delaware County community is mourning the loss of a popular athlete. He was killed in a car accident on the 500 block of Baltimore Pike .

Chris Rogers shared with FOX 29 these photos of his late friend Dante Desimone. This afternoon, Rogers and friends visited the makeshift memorial on Baltimore Pike where police say the 18-year old was struck and killed by a car.

It happened on Sunday at about 9:30p.m. Police say Desimone was chatting with friends outside the McDonalds restaurant when two cars collided and one jumped the curb slamming into Desimone and 18-year-old Tim Robison. Robison was seriously injured. A third person was not hurt.

Corey Malampy was Desimone's coach on the Men's Lacrosse team at Neumann University. He describes Desimone as the athlete everyone wants on their team.

"He was only a freshman, but he was already showing some of the older guys what hard work and dedication are. And the love for the sport," Malampy said.

"His smile was gregarious. He had a really a compelling personality. One of those kids that have a sparkle in his eye and you know is going to do good things as he moves forward," Chuck Sack, director of athletics & recreation said.

And it's that smile that friends say they will never forget

"He is a funny kid to be around. Just making everybody laugh and everything," Rogers said.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
