Couple Injured By Boston Marathon Bombing To Have Dream Wedding

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK, NY -

A young couple still recovering from injuries that they suffered in the Boston Marathon Bombings is getting married. Better yet, a popular wedding planning website is paying for the whole celebration.

The couple, Rebekah Gregory and Pete DiMartino, was at the finish line to watch the marathon and cheer on the runners when the tragedy struck and both were injured. The injury made them realize that they couldn't live without each other.

Gregory, her son, and DiMartino were at the finish line of the Boston Marathon last year, cheering on his mom, when the tragic bombing occurred. Gregory broke almost every bone in her foot, leg, and ankle. She still uses a wheelchair. DiMartino lost 90% of his right Achilles tendon and suffered a broken ankle and ruptured eardrum. Gregory's son was not hurt as badly because Gregory shielded him with her own body.

After all three were seriously injured, the events of that day put the couple's relationship into perspective, and they got engaged last October. Now they're getting married and "The Knot," is giving them a dream wedding. Rebekah Gregory and Pete DiMartino have been chosen by "The Knot" as the winner of their 2014 dream wedding contest.

Here's the fun part: readers will help plan the wedding by voting on everything from the flowers, to the location of the wedding, to the dress wore and even the cake.

The big day will be this spring. You can vote online right now on what city it will be in. The reception will be planned by celebrity wedding planner Marcy Blum, who's done the weddings of Lebron James, Kevin Bacon and Billy Joel.
