Police Officer's Son Gunned Down In Grays Ferry

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Detectives are investigating the homicide of the 19-year-old son of an active-duty Philadelphia police officer.

Jahmeer Jett was shot on the 6200 block of Grays Avenue just before 6 p.m.

He was pronounced dead 15 minutes later at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

We're told Jett was an avid Junior Golden Gloves boxer and a member of the Class of 2013 at Mastery Charter Shoemaker Campus.

Detectives say Jett seemed by all accounts to be a "good kid," and they're continuing to investigate.

A second homicide occurred shortly after that one and just blocks away.

At 6:36 p.m. on the 6100 Block of Buist, a 24-year-old was fatally shot. There was no immediate information on a suspect.
