Newark, DE -

Authorities in Newark have arrested a man for weapon and drug offenses after neglecting to stop for a traffic violation and crashing his van.

Police tell us on Saturday afternoon, Reginald M. Kornegay was driving southbound on I-95 in a vehicle with a registration violation. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but Kornegay continued southbound trying to escape trailing police. The van then crashed on Whitaker Road where Kornegay was brought into custody. After examination of the vehicle, one bag of heroin and two cigars containing marijuana were found.

Following obtaining a search warrant of Kornegay's home in the unit block of Abbey Lane, detectives discovered 28.6 grams of marijuana, packaged for distribution, a sawed-off shotgun, and over $10,000 in suspected drug proceeds. Money was found under the dresser of a 4-year-old child who lives in the building.

Reginald Kornegay was arrested and charged with numerous traffic, weapon, and drug offenses including possession with intent to deliver marijuana and heroin and possession of a firearm.

Kornegay was arraigned at JP11 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $33,000 cash bond.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
