NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority was running a modified schedule on its subways, buses, and commuter trains on Wednesday after the snow storm but was expected to return mostly to normal by Thursday.

Subways were close to normal with some delays. Fastrack construction on the E, M, F, R lines was canceled for this week because of the storm.

All city bus lines were running, but with delays and a few service changes because of snow on the roads.

LIRR was on a weekend schedule with some extra trains set for the Wednesday evening rush hour. Normal weekday service was set to resume at 12:01 a.m. Thursday.

Metro-North was running close to its normal weekday service.

Mayor Bill de Blasio is pulling back the reins on his plans to quickly get rid of New York City's horse-drawn carriage industry, stung by a recent outpouring of support for the colorful coaches that have clip-clopped their way through Central Park for more than 150 years. A campaign pledge to take on the horses during his first week as mayor was eclipsed by other issues.
