Hunt Continues For Crocodile Responsible For Mauling Boy

Posted: Updated:

The hunt continues down under for a crocodile responsible for snatching a twelve-year-old boy and mauling his friend.

The missing boy was taken by a crocodile as he and his four friends swam Sunday afternoon at Kakadu National Park in northern Australia.

One of the boy's friends sustained deep wounds while fighting off the crocodile, which is believed to be at least ten feet long.

On Monday, rangers shot two large crocodiles near the spot where the boy was snatched, but according to Police Sergeant Stephen Constable, neither is believed to be the killer.

"We continued the search last night. In the early hours of this morning we located two crocodiles, one 4.3 meters, one 4.7 meters. Both of those crocodiles were shot and removed from the area. We've since had a look at both crocodiles and neither of them had anything in their stomachs," Constable said.

Sign posts throughout Kakadu National Park warn visitors not to swim in waterways because of crocodile danger.
