Four Dogs Stabbed To Death In California

Posted: Updated:
RIVERSIDE, CA -

Robert Carter returned to his Riverside, CA home to find a terrifying and disturbing sight: four of his seven dogs had been stabbed to death, and the other three had sustained serious injuries.

Police suspect the attack occurred early Sunday morning after Carter had a confrontation with a man the day before.

"This is just devastating," says Carter. "It is a crazy thing to come home and find all of your dogs dead."

"It's despicable, it's horrific and it's something we shake our heads at. Who can harm an animal?" says John Walsh of Riverside County Animal Rescue.

Carter has been able to bring home his living dogs, but says, "They are really distraught, I just got them to come out this morning. Other than that, they want to stay in the house."

While the attack was not caught on surveillance, Police say that the man on the surveillance tapes has been deemed a person of interest in the case.
