Suspect, Surveillance Shows, Unsuccessfully Tried To Rob Store

PHILADELPHIA -

He wrote tough words, but this suspected robber ended up running away. Today, the Central Detectives Division is looking to identify the suspect caught on surveillance in the Logan Circle part of Philadelphia.

The day started like any other day, but it was soon turned upside down with a threatening note. Police say that on January 27, 2014, at 3:58 p.m., an employee of the Hallmark Card Store located on the 1600 block of JFK Boulevard was the recipient of a threatening note. Investigators say that the employee was working at the cash register when an unknown male entered the store and slipped a note, demanding money.

The note apparently said, "Give me all the money or I will kill you."

The employee, fearful but also acting wisely, then called over another employee to assist her, police say. However, before anything else could happen, authorities say that the suspect grabbed the demand note and fled the store in a hurry.

He left empty-handed.

Police want to nab this guy so he doesn't try this again or potentially get more violent next time. If you see him, police stress that you should approach; instead, contact 911 immediately. To submit a tip via telephone, dial 215.686.TIPS (8477) or text a tip to PPD TIP or 773847.
