Woman Comes Home To A Puma In Her House

Posted: Updated:

A Chilean woman came home to find that a puma had broken into her house. Puma, as in the big cat, not the sneakers.

She doesn't know where it came from, but when she got home, she tells reporters that a puma was relaxing in her kitchen after tearing it apart. Based on the pictures of the puma, one can tell that the door certainly wasn't left open; this puma went to town on her personal belongings after tearing apart the door.

How many ways are there for a wild jungle cat to break into one house?

It could be inferred that this mishap may be related to the displacement of wildlife after habitat fragmentation or destruction. Chile already has a notable population of pumas (you can even go puma watching), and encounters between beast and man are becoming more common since homes are encroaching into the puma's natural habitat.

It is not clear what exactly happened to this cat. The woman gave these pictures to the country's "Agriculture and Wildlife Service." Pumas usually eat anything they can get their hands on, but they rarely attack humans. Since this woman submitted the pictures, we can assume that she didn't become a snack.
