1 Dead, 1 Injured In West Phila Shooting

19th District officers responded to a shooting on 5300 block of Market Street that left a 29 year woman dead and a 34-year-old woman injured.

Police arrived on the scene just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning, finding 29-year-old Melissa Thomas shot twice on the left side of her chest. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police then discovered a 34-year-old woman who was shot once on her left arm. The victim told officers that two black males wearing black hooded sweatshirts approached and robbed them at gun point.

After taking both victims' belongings, one of the males fired at them several times as they ran north bound on 53rd St.

The investigation for this shooting is ongoing. The city is offering a $20,000 reward for the arrest of the suspects.
