CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Seven people — including three children — were injured in a crash early Monday in the South Side Grand Boulevard neighborhood.

A 29-year-old woman driving a van was westbound on 43rd Street when she ran a red light and hit a sedan heading northbound on LaSalle Street at 1:35 a.m., police said.

The woman and the driver of the sedan, a 28-year-old man, were both taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center and listed in "stable" condition, Alfaro said.

Two adults and three children who had been riding in the sedan were also injured, Alfaro said. The adults were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County and the children were taken to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital.

None of the injuries were life-threatening, Alfaro said.

Police said the crash was possibly alcohol-related, though no charges or citations had been issued early Monday.
