Good Neighbor Ed Helps Neighborhood Cope After Storm

Posted: Updated:
HORSHAM, Pa. -

"We still got water on the floor," said Bill Gallagher. "The water level is going down big time now..."

A flooded basement and power outage in an ice storm is a colossal fail for Bill Gallagher of Horsham.

However, having a neighbor several homes away willing to run an extension cord to power a sump pump from his generator to help clean up this mess? A major win.

"Our neighbors did a great job today," he said.

Ed Wolfe, FOX 29 Sports Anchor Colleen Wolfe's father, is the handyman and brains behind this neighbors-helping-neighbors project.

"They had a couple of trees on the car -- took care of that," Wolfe said with full authority. "Ever see the movie "Good Neighbor Sam?" Just call me Good Neighbor Ed."

Wolfe says that he enjoys helping others when he can; however, not every home in this court can be hooked up to a single generator at the same time.

"We plan to hunker down in this room here," said Jerry Robinson.

The Robinson family of four plans to cuddle up for the night on the couch by the gas fireplace. They run outside to the car to charge their cell phones every now and then, hoping their home stays put at a decent temperature until they can get some power.

"Maybe if we can keep one house hot at a time...teamwork..." he said. "I hope Mother Nature and PECO is good to us."

FOX 29's Jenni Joyce reported.
