Good Samaritans Help Delco Animal Shelter Without Power

Wednesday's Ice Storm left many homes and businesses without electricity. Crews are working around the clock to restore power to thousands.

Approximately 411,000 electric customers are still waiting Thursday evening for power to be restored after massive outages across the Philadelphia area.

For many people, another night without power means another night in a cold home but this is no longer the case for a group of animals at a local shelter.

The Delaware County SPCA tweeted for help when they lost their power for two days after the storm. A group of Good Samaritans helped them out by donating a generator.

The generator allowed the shelter to open today between 4p.m-7p.m in hopes that some pets would be adopted.

The shelter has now gained full power back at its facility, but staff say they are in still need of food, blankets, and towels for the animals until they find their forever homes.
