Champion Steer Sells For $200,000

Posted: Updated:

The crossbred European steer named, "Here I Am," was the second champion steer Flint Newman raised and sold to Coors Distributing.

Newman is a high school senior and his family plans to use his newest winnings to pay for his education at Texas Tech next year.

Newman's other steer was sold for $105,000 last year. "Here I Am" weighed over 1300 pounds.

"A lot of work every day you don't have time to do anything else just go to the barn and that's what you do," said Newman of the work it takes to raise a champion.

His entire family is proud of his winnings and looks forward to his years in school.

"It means everything in the world to all of us it paid off finally he's a senior what a great way to end our senior year, it's unbelievable," said Mandy Newman, Flint Newman's mom.
