PHILADELPHIA -

He pistol-whipped a man and then robbed him. Northwest Detectives Division is looking to identify the suspect who robbed a 50 year-old male in Tioga.

The incident occurred on February 1, 2014, at 3:00, according to police when a man had finished using an ATM machine on the 1600 block of West Allegheny Avenue. He was approached by an unknown male, say police. After the two started talking, the suspect suddenly pulled a handgun and forced him into the hallway of a building, police say. Once inside, the suspect struck the man with the handgun and said, "You know what this is." Scared for his life, the man quickly dropped his money and debit card and the suspect fled in an unknown direction, taking $550 in cash and the debit card, say police.

Here's the suspect description based on surveillance and the victim: Black male, late teens to early 20 years-of-age, wearing a dark colored knit hat, dark colored jacket, and dark colored pants.

If you see this suspect, police say do not approach him. Instead, contact 911 immediately.

To submit a tip via telephone, dial 215.686.TIPS (8477) or text a tip to PPD TIP or 773847.
