9,000 Customers Remain Without Power

Posted: Updated:
BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. -

Another cold night in the dark for thousands in our area! It's been six days without electricity for many PECO customers. And although numbers are dwindling, some 9,000 remain without power.

FOX 29's Chris O'Connell spoke with one very frustrated family in Levittown, Bucks County

The majority of customers who lost electric have been restored tonight… but there is a small percentage of those who are still in the dark. This is one of those neighborhoods.

"Day 6 I'm ready to snap heads."

You'll have to excuse the tough words from Lisa McDonnell of Levittown, a mother of two. It's been a very long week

"Not being able to wash clothes, not being able to take a hot shower, not being able to cook dinner my kids have been eating peanut butter sandwiches for breakfast," McDonnell said.

Power she can live without. It's the lack of answers from PECO that's got her most frustrated.

"We expect to have your service restored at February 10th at 11pm," McDonnell said.

That's the PECO recording she got today. Saying power will be restored, but she's got that same message for the last six nights.

"I'm not asking you to get my power back this minute .I'm asking when do you expect. Clearly they have to come out and see the problem. They have to know when they're planning on doing it," McDonell said.

A gas generator is the only way the McDonnell's have heat. Other than that it's been life by candlelight and lots of Ipad games.

"Well you can't watch TV, play games it's kind of boring kind of laying around all day," Evan McDonnell said.

"For some things I can't do homework without the computer and stuff. Too bad. I know it's like an excuse for me," Jake McDonnell said.

So it's another night of blankets and candles. They're hoping to get back to normal before another winter blast comes to town.
