Cherry Hill Grocery Store Handling Large Crowds Ahead Of Storm

Posted: Updated:

Shelves are stacked, refrigerators are full and must have items like water are in the middle of the floor for easy access. Check out lanes at Wegmans on Rt. 70 in Cherry Hill are all open and busy.

"Where are the apples? I think they're right over there. Ok," said the Conte family. The latest round of winter weather has them grocery shopping together for only the third time yet they've been married 35 years.

"Any fish? No fish. What else we need?" said John Conte to his wife Sherry who usually shops alone.

"You give him a list to go to the store and he comes back with what's not on the list at all. He has  donuts and frosted flakes," laughs Sherry.

But realizing they may be snowed in for a day or two they've come up with a system to get prepared.

John's job is to push the cart while Sherry makes sure they get what they need.

"We have milk bread, eggs, bacon, lunch meat and soup. I make soup," she said.

Some came with a list to get in and out quickly while others like the Carlson family kept their trip to the grocery store short.

"We're trying to get a quick meal of Wegmans pizza and a few survival items like snacks," said Rich Carlson. But his kids Lucy and Jack have other things on their minds.

"I want to stay home tomorrow but I want to go to school on Friday because we're going to have a Valentines party," said Jack.
