Crash Survivor Describes Car Getting Pinned Beneath 18-Wheeler

BENSALEM, Pa. -

On "Good Day Philadelphia" Friday morning, we spoke to a man who barely escaped tragedy on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Steven Coney was headed to work in Ewing, N.J., when became involved in the wreck that involved 50 to a 100 vehicles, according to early estimates, and left dozens injured.

Coney says a car suddenly stopped in front of him. He tried braking, then pulled his emergency brake and did a spin on the road, coming to rest safely on the side of the road.

But then came a tractor-trailer that couldn't stop. It smashed the windshield of Coney's car, which became pinned beneath.

Later, Coney spoke with FOX 29's Mike Jerrick and Sheinelle Jones while sitting on a turnpike guardrail at the scene. He was emotional about what had just happened on the morning of Valentine's Day.
