Posted: Updated:
SOUTHAMPTON, Pa. -

All of the drivers involved in Friday morning's pileups on the Pennsylvania Turnpike had stories of comradery and drivers helping fellow drivers coming to each other's rescue as the accidents piled up.

For up to six hours this section of the Pennsylvania Turnpike was packed with cars, many of them damaged. Folks outside their cars for hours were waiting to get rescued off the turnpike.

FOX 29's Dave Schratwieser spent the day on the turnpike and spoke to some of those drivers, many of whom were so shaken up.

There were stories of incredible actions by first responders, police and the wrecking crews that came in with the tow trucks and hauled all of the cars off the roadway.

Drivers also talked about the icy road conditions as the accident scene unfolded.
