Vets Walk From Milwaukee To Los Angeles

Posted: Updated:

Tom Voss and Anthony Anderson began their journey in August 2013 and have walked the full 2,700 miles to California where they met up with Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele.

"Mentally physically emotionally I feel as though I'm in a much better place than I was six months ago," Anderson said.

Abele flew to Los Angeles to buy the men dinner and make good on a promise of a second $10,000 donation to their cause.

The veterans both suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder and did the walk as a fundraiser for Dryhootch, an organization aimed at helping veterans adjust to normal life after returning from war.

"My wife passed away, she was a very good investor so it's my job to give the money away," Voss said.

He and Anderson had set out to raise one-hundred-thousand-dollars for the organization, a goal in which they met.

"There's a lot of stuff that we got a chance to work through and you know work on while we're out there so I think it was successful," Voss said.
