Icy Streets & Roads Remain After Snowstorm

Posted: Updated:

It was last Thursday when we got that really big snow. 4 days later some property owners are not getting the message when it comes to cleaning their sidewalks.

We found ice on the side walk at 12th and market where both south sides of the sidewalks are completely encrusted in ice. It's not very safe since it's at a pretty busy intersection.

In Philadelphia and in most places the homeowner or tenant is required to clean at least 30 inches of the sidewalks within 6 hours of a snowfall and the longer you wait the harder it is to clean up this ice.

We found people slipping all over the place here on South Street. We could not reach the owners of these particular properties, but we're trying to because this is dangerous.

If you are caught not taking care of these sidewalks property owners can face fines of $50-$300. Not to mention the risk of a lawsuit.
