Teen Named 'Lion King'

Posted: Updated:

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) - Almost 7 years ago FOX did a story about A 12-year-old boy named Lion King Conaway. Lee even took him to the stage production of "The Lion King" while it was in town.

So now, 7 years later, this young man appears to be living up to his unique name. The 18-year-old defensive end from Southfield High School recently signed a letter of intent to play football at Eastern Michigan University on a full scholarship. His father even legally dropped his last name so it will say "Lion King" on his jersey during games .

His name may seem odd to many, but not for him. The Lion King says "It gives me a lot of notoriety. It helps me talk to people easy, you know, it gives me a lot of confidence."
