Trooper-Involved Crash Shuts Down Northbound Blue Route

Updated:
BROOMALL, Pa. -

All lanes on the northbound Blue Route were shut down Thursday morning, but they have been reopened. This happened after a Pennsylvania State Police trooper was involved in a crash. Traffic is still delayed.

The crash on Interstate 476 was reported shortly after 5:30 a.m. at Broomall/Upper Darby exit 9 for West Chester Pike (Pa. Route 3).

CHECK: Latest Traffic Conditions

SkyFOX flew over the scene and showed what appears to be two cars and a box truck that overturned. The trooper's cruiser, with rear-end damage, was in the mix. By 8:00 a.m., Karen Hepp reported on scene that the crash was cleared up.

At least one person was seen being extricated and wheeled away from the crash scene on a stretcher. We're told one person is hospitalized, but the injury was not serious.

Traffic is still delayed, three hours worth of a backup, says Kacie McDonnell, but again, the lanes are all open. Routes 320 or 252 are going to be your alternate routes.

We're getting a lot of reports of black ice on the roads this morning, so take your time getting to your destination. Police also think that the ice could have been a cause in the accident on 476.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
