Christie Hears From Storm Victims At Town Hall

MIDDLETOWN, N.J. (AP) - At a town hall meeting, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is blaming the federal government for deficiencies in the state's Superstorm Sandy recovery.

Christie returned to Republican-controlled Monmouth County on Thursday for his first town hall since private emails revealed a political payback scandal in which his associates ordered traffic lanes closed, causing lengthy backups.

But the scandal didn't come up. Instead, the 51-year-old Republican heard from residents who have not returned to their homes since the 2012 storm.

A three year old had a touching exchange with Governor Christie.

"Do you have a question for me?" Christie asked.

"Yeah, may you fix my house? It's still broken?" she asked.

"What town do you live in?" Christie asked.

"New Jersey" the little girl named Nicole responded.

The governor and potential 2016 presidential candidate blames Congress for taking too long to approve a multibillion-dollar aid package. He also says the allocation could fall $20 billion short of the state's rebuilding needs.

The administration has been criticized for the slow pace and confusing way it is distributing the first $1.8 billion in aid.
