Berks Co.Teacher Arrested For Allegedly Having Sex With Student

Posted: Updated:
BERKS COUNTY, Pa. -

A former Berks County middle school teacher faces serious charges after being accused of having sex with one of her students.

30 year old Jessica Saienni turned herself into police Friday morning.

Saienni was a science teacher at Southwest Middle School in  Reading when authorities say she had sex with a 14-year-old student.

That boy came forward last month, launching the investigation.

"I was surprised, because she was a good teacher," former student Edwin Ramos said.

Ramos was shocked to learn sexual assault charges were filed against his old teacher.

He remembers the 30 year old differently from his time in her class several years ago.

"She was a cool teacher, but what I heard now about her is really unprofessional.  I think she shouldn't have done that," Ramos said.

From June to August of 2012, court documents say Saienni had a sexual relationship with a 14 year old student.

Investigators say the first contact occurred at a parking lot on Papermill road in Saienni's car.

Donna Phillips was very disappointed to hear about the allegations involving a school where her children and grandchildren once attended.

"That's horrible. I mean your kids aren't safe anywhere anymore," she said.

Detectives say Saienni also had sex with the teen at her Bethlehem home multiple times.

They say she also texted him naked pictures of herself, and told him not to tell anyone about their relationship.

Ramos says he never saw any signs she could be capable of this.

"She never came on to any of the students back then, so I'm surprised she came on to a student now," he said.

Saienni is out of jail after posting a 50 thousand dollar bond Friday.
