Tollefson Items To Be Auctioned Off Following Arrest

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

There are new developments in the growing charity fraud case against former Philadelphia television personality Don Tollefson.

He is already charged with cheating more than a hundred people out of more than $100,000.

Now, an auction is set for Monday for the contents of two storage lockers rented by Tollefson on Delaware Avenue.

But we've learned there may not be much left of any value when the bidding begins.

Bucks County prosecutors confirmed Friday that detectives with the District Attorney's Office searched the lockers with an eye toward confiscating anything that might be considered proceeds from illegal activity.

That might include things like autographed sports memorabilia, anything tied to the charity deals offered by Tollefson to solicit donations.

The man known by local TV viewers as "Tollie" was having trouble getting out of the lockup following his Tuesday arrest.

Prosecutors say more people have come forward to accuse Tollefson since his arrest.

Among those charities allegedly defrauded are the Salvation Army, the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania, and the Brad Fox Foundation, named after the Montgomery County police officer killed in the line of duty.

Tollefson's attorney admits mistakes were made, but insists his client did not mean to cheat anyone and still hopes to repay those who lost money.

Prosecutors say anything they confiscate from those storage lockers may go to that purpose.

Tollefson is a former FOX 29 employee.
